City West Eye Specialists’ founder and director is Dr Nisha Sachdev. It is the first state-of-the-art, modern and contemporary Eye Specialist Clinic in Leichhardt, having opened in 2013. Dr Nisha takes pride in providing a personalised, friendly and caring environment to provide the best care for her patients.
Dr Nisha Sachdev is a highly trained Ophthalmologist, who subspecialises in cataract surgery, glaucoma and Paediatric Ophthalmology. She has worked as a medical practitioner in different countries worldwide, bringing a wealth of International experience to Leichhardt. She completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Dundee, receiving the AR Moodie Prize in Ophthalmology. In conjunction with her degree, she completed research, resulting in 3 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Following this, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), titled “Assessing and Correlating aspects of cataract surgery using Scheimpflug photography and wavefront aberrometry”. This thesis received international recognition with Dr Nisha presenting at international conferences. Indeed, her thesis has led to confirmation of modifications of intraocular lens implants with current cataract surgical techniques. During this time, she was also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland, teaching Ophthalmology to undergraduate medical, nursing and Optometry students. Following this, Dr Nisha completed her surgical training in Ophthalmology with ease and underwent further subspecialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and eyelid disorders. She was a pioneer Paediatric Ophthalmologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, involving restructuring the training programme for Paediatric Ophthalmology with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr Nisha relocated to Sydney 3 years ago, back to where she grew up, to start up a comprehensive and modern Ophthalmic practice in Leichhardt. She brings a wealth of international experience to the area, providing excellence in all areas of Ophthalmology.
